In March of 2009, I attended the first ever Get RADICAL Women’s Conference hosted by Doreen Rainey. My experiences and the positive impact that this conference had on my life goes far beyond words. I went into the event seeking, searching, open and curious; I walked away from the event renewed, inspired, motivated, invigorated, empowered and absolutely full of passion. The conference lit a candle within my heart and Soul; reigniting the belief within my heart that I have the ability to be, do and have anything that I desire in life.
In 2008, I acquired the tropical illness called Dengue Fever, while traveling in Cambodia. I was also bitten by a monkey in Thailand, so I had to go through the post-exposure rabies vaccines and immunoglobulin at the same time I had the illness. The long and the short of this story is that I had been an Elite level athlete my entire life, so this near death experience created a drastic, Soul searching contrast for me. It took me 6+ months of consciously rebuilding myself back to life, and during this time I began to watch the TV show “The Biggest Loser.” When I watched the show throughout the fall of 2008, I saw deep aspects of myself mirrored in Jillian Michaels, so when I found out that she was going to be at the Get RADICAL Conference. I just knew that I had to be there!
And while, Jillian was the draw to the Conference, it was the entire day that changed my life. Every woman that stepped on the stage mirrored something very powerful to me, and aided in setting my heart on fire. The energy, the passion, the excitement, the fun, the courage, the strength, the sense of community – it was contagious. And witnessing these women who owned their power gave me permission to trust myself, once again, like I had previously done in my athletic career.
The inspirations lead me to make a commitment to myself that day. And my commitment was to follow my heart, no matter what it meant that I had to leave behind, until I found my deepest purpose in life. And in summary, this Conference jump started an amazing, miraculous journey of the Soul that has taken me all over the World, and had the wildest and most unexpected twists and turns! I am now a Medicine Woman that lives in the Rocky Mountains, and holds a Vision of creating a healing retreat center for women.
Truly, the first ever Get RADICAL Conference was the beginning of the rest of my life, and I will always remain in deep, profound gratitude for every woman who was there that day!
